Despite being the most widely grown grape in Italy, this Tuscan style varietal may lack name recognition primarily due to Italian naming conventions.
Sangiovese wines will more likely be labeled as Chianti blends, Super Tuscan, and several other well-known labels that are vastly composed of Sangiovese.
Traditionally producing a light to medium body red wine, light blending of non-Italian varietals is often performed to allow the wine to achieve its maximal potential. This vintage could also be described as a "Super Tuscan" since we elected to blend in a very small amount of our highest quality Cabernet Franc to accentuate flavor. It will come as no surprise that this wine pairs impeccably with tomato-based pasta dishes and pizza, but can also be mated with grilled meats and spicy fare.
